Training on fire safety and emergency response carried out

To strengthen the fire safety awareness of international students and improve their practical firefighting skills and emergency response abilities, the College of International Education collaborating with the Qingdao Red Cross Search and Rescue team, conducted theoretical and practical training on fire safety and emergency response for all international students living on campus on November 13th.

The deputy director Xin Rudong briefly introduced the fire safety work at UPC, and hoped that the international students attach great importance to the fire safety work, eliminate the hidden dangers within the dormitory and jointly create a safe and comfortable living and learning environment thereby contributing to the formation of a safe campus and the promotion of harmonious development of the University. This was later followed by a lecture presented by Ms. Yang Xiaoling in cooperation with Mr. Yu Tao, trainers from Qingdao Red Cross Search and Rescue team. In line with the management of the apartment building, the training comprised of fire safety knowledge, firefighting techniques during the initial stages of a fire, use of firefighting equipment, emergency evacuation, unarmed handling and cardiopulmonary resuscitation among others. International students actively participated in the practical training which included making simple stretchers, carrying the wounded with bare hands, and carrying out cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

This fire safety theory training and emergency rescue practice exercise is being carried out in stages so as to enable participation of all students living on campus. It aims to enhance the international students' awareness of fire safety and enhance their ability to deal with emergencies so as to lay a solid foundation for building a safe campus and promoting the harmonious development of the university.
