CIE consists of administration offices (including General Affairs Office, Academic Affairs Office, Admissions Office, Student Affairs Office and Visa Service Center) and teaching & research organizations (including Department of Chinese Language for International Education, International Education Research Base of Shandong Province, and International Education Research Center). The college primarily functions in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, international education research, international student enrollment propaganda, academics and student affairs management, visa administration, dormitory management, etc. Teaching staff have an advanced-level academic background, abundant teaching experiences and sophisticated communication skills. Administration staff own a strong sense of responsibility and never-ending enhancement, and qualified foreign language and professional skills. A majority of teaching and administration staff have overseas studying and working experiences as well as rich experiences and competence of international educational management and research.
Since its foundation, CIE has been carrying on a full range of explorations and improvements in teaching concepts, training modes and management schemes of international student education. It has formed a featured Chinese Language Program and a mature teaching mechanism of English-medium degree programs. CIE highlights the social value of academic research and program construction, aims at cultivating practical, versatile and internationalized talents, and actively explores a new talent-cultivation mechanism in response to national strategical demand and international education need.
In recent years, international education develops at a rapid pace in this university. There currently exist over 1000 degree students, including doctoral, master and undergraduate students. China University of Petroleum is a Chinese Government Scholarship university approved by Ministry of Education, and also a HSK test center approved by China National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. It becomes an International Education Research Base of Shandong Province, and also a national training base for international education administers.
In accordance with the Study-in-China Plan and the university development scheme, College of International Education sets a series of goals for 2020: to form an international education working mechanism corresponding to the national status and the educational level of UPC, to develop world-level international education teaching staff, to establish a few more featured international education programs, to cultivate high quality international graduates, and to carry out one or two mature international education research projects. CIE is dedicated to contributing to UPC in developing into a nationally renowned university, a world-leading Petroleum-specialized university, and an advanced-level research-oriented university.
