About Qingdao

                 

 

Qingdao is a city in eastern Shandong Province on the east coast of China as well as the largest city in Shandong province. Administered at the sub-provincial level, Qingdao has jurisdiction over six districts and five county-level cities. The total population is up to 9.05 million in 2014. Qīng () in Chinese means "green" or "lush", while dǎo () means "island".

 

Qingdao is a major seaport, naval base, and industrial center. The world's longest sea bridge, the Jiaozhou Bay Bridge, links the main urban area of Qingdao with Huangdao district, straddling the Jiaozhou Bay sea areas. It is also the site of the Tsingtao Brewery, the second largest brewery in China.

 

In 2007, Qingdao was named as among China's top ten cities by the Chinese Cities Brand Value Report, which was released at the 2007 Beijing Summit of China Cities Forum. In 2009, Qingdao was named China's most livable city by the Chinese Institute of City Competitiveness.

 

Qingdao is located in the north temperate monsoon zone, and has a temperate monsoon climate. Due to the direct regulation of the marine environment and southeast monsoon and ocean current, water from the ocean on the marine climate, therefore it also has remarkable characteristics. Moist air, abundant rainfall, moderate temperature, four distinct seasons.

May Fourth Square

 May Fourth Square is named to honor the May Fourth Movement in 1919. Consisting of two squares and a park, the area is decorated with statues and fountains, and surrounded by pine trees, meadows, and flowers. It has become the symbol of modern Qingdao. Distribution along the central axis, the City Hall, expressionism fountain, lattice fountain, "May the wind" sculpture, hundreds of meters fountain rhythmically show us a solemn, solid, vigorous and magnificent scenery with full of the spirit of the times.

Eight Great Passes

Eight Great Passes is one of the attractions that you cannot miss in Qingdao, where you can have a best taste of the "red green trees, blue sea and blue sky" characteristics of the scenic area. The focus here mixes Russian, English, French, German, American, Japanese, Danish and more than 20 national styles of architecture together, and it is also called "exhibition of the world architectures".      

Laoshan Mountain

Laoshan is the main mountain in Shandong peninsula. Its main peak named "Kyoho" or "Lao Mountain Top", is the highest peak on the coast of China. It is also called "the first mountain" city, and the famous mountain of Taoism. The famous “Laoshan Twelve Attractions” shows us the beauty of Laoshan perfectly.

Olympic Sailing Center

Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center is located in New District of Fushan Bay at the east of Qingdao City, where belongs to the Beihai shipyard site in the past, and it is adjacent to the May Fourth Square and the East Sea Road. All the necessary facilities of Olympic Sailing Game are all placed in the Stadium District.

        

Polar Ocean World

Qingdao Polar Ocean World is located in the south of Shi Lao Ren Tourist Resort, which mixes cuisine, hotels, traveling, shopping and entertainment together into one. It has the Ocean Park as the theme of the large open tourist attraction. The white whale show is most exciting.

Little Qingdao Isle

Little Qingdao Isle is located in the Qingdao Bay on the north side of Jiaozhou Bay Estuary, with Huangdao facing each other across a distance, named by the colors. At dusk, the lighthouse shines like a brilliant ruby for ships to navigate out of the Jiaozhou Bay. The emerald-like island and the white lighthouse stay together in the night, making a picturesque scene.

Zhanqiao Pier

This long-history bridge is the symbol of Qingdao. She is located in the Qingdao Bay, connecting the Zhongshan Road, a most prosperous area of the city. The pier is 440 meters long. There is an octagonal pagoda of distinctive Chinese style, “Huilan Pagoda” at the end of the pier. From the top, tourists can take a full view of the magnificent sea scene. Along the shore is the beautiful Pier Park, which is a pleasant and placid place for tourists to rest and enjoy the scenery of Little Qingdao Isle and its white tower.

The first Qingdao Bathing Beach

The first Qingdao bathing beach is located in Huiquan Bay, once being Asia's largest beach. Here is surrounded by mountains on three sides, verdant green trees, and superior scenery.

Luxun Park

Built in 1912, the park changed name to commemorate LU Xun, a most influential and an ever-best writer of modern Chinese literature, in 1950. With red reef, clear water, green pines, quiet lanes, winding pavilions, the whole scenery is truly engaging for both the scenic and natural beauty.  

     

Zhongshan Park

In honour of Sun Yat-senSun Zhongshan, "Father of modern China"Zhongshan Park is the largest park and the most distinctive scenic vegetation landscape in Qingdao. It is surrounded by mountains and faces the sea south.

Taitung

Known as a shopping paradise, Taitung is a shopping district of Shibei District. There are beer streets, wedding streets, Yanan 2 Road night markets, fashion streets, Liqun, WAL-MART, Carrefour and some more.

Huangdao District

 

Huangdao District is a district of Qingdao, Shandong, China, located southwest and west of the main urban area of the city on the western shore of Jiaozhou Bay. It was identical to Qingdao Economic and Technological Development Zone, which was launched in 1985 after the zone was merged with Huangdao District and set up the Free Trade Zone in 1992.

The pillar industries engaged in the zone include electronics, household electric appliances, building materials, petrochemicals, machinery and pharmaceuticals. It is connected via the Jiaozhou Bay Bridge.

The alias of Huangdao is Western Coast of Qingdao. The number of residents is 1.71 million in 2014.
