Alumni Story

       Over 300 students from more than 30 countries of five continents have graduated from UPC by far. Most of the graduates have stepped into the oil and petrochemical enterprises, and become brilliant talents in petrochemical industry. The outstanding achievements of international students reflect the ascending quality of education.

Excellent Alumnus Stories:


       In April 2015, Fernando, an international alumnus of UPC, visited the university while he was visiting China along with the President of Equatorial Guinea. As a precursor of the national delegation, he did a lot of preparatory work for this visit and participated in construction of the “base camp” for the delegation. During the visit, he also participated in the relevant work in fund-raising for Equatorial Guinea national oil projects from China.

       Fernando started his study in UPC in 2008 majoring in petroleum engineering. He was good at study and made an outstanding performance in university life. He won the scholarship for Outstanding Student for three years in succession, the scholarship for Outstanding Class Leader and an honorary title of Stylistic Activist. During this period, he also served as the Vice-Chairman of International Students Union, and owned high prestige among the international students. In the fifth "Chinese Bridge" competition, he won the first prize in Shandong Province. After graduation, Fernando joined Shandong Kerui Group, and he had become the deputy general manager of Equatorial Guinea Branch Company of Kerui Group three years later. At the same time, he worked as a consultant in Energy, Mineral and Industry Ministry of Equatorial Guinea and contributed a lot to the economic cooperation and development of the two countries.


       Najeeb ur Rehman, Pakistani, who started his study in Petroleum engineering in UPC in March 2011 and graduated in Jan 2015 won undergraduate academic excellence scholarship for three times, and obtained Chinese Government Scholarship for his outstanding performance and participation in extra curriculum activities, such as volunteer job and cultural interaction. Exploring Chinese culture from different aspects, he  passed Chinese language test HSK level 4 in 2013.

       He is working as a petro-physicist in the Middle East Base of  China Oilfield Services Limited in Abu Dhabi at present He had a chance to attend 2015-Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC), where he took part in different conferences to explore professional experience. He said what he had learned from teachers in university is now being practiced every day and if there were any opportunity for  further study, he would prefer to choose China University of Petroleum again.


       Askhat Urazayev is from Kazakhstan, and he graduated from UPC in 2014. Due to his diligence and high scores of courses, he was  awarded the prize Excellence in Academic Performance at the end of his first year in the university. As a monitor, he was enthusiastic and responsible for his work and won Excellent Student-Cadre Scholarship Award twice. Though he made up his mind to study petroleum engineering, he had been keeping eyes on business, management, economics, and finance for future career plan when he was here.

       After graduating from the university, Askhat found a job in Jereh Group as a sales representative, responsible for equipment promotions for the oil and gas industry and varied internal affairs.One year later, he returned to Kazakhstan and has been working as Business Development Representative in Anton Oilfield Services (Group) Ltd from then on. By far, he has participated in some Antonoil projects like Antonoil swell-packer's providing for CNPC-Aktobe Munai Gas, Zhanazhol oilfield, and Antonoil screen's providing for Tulpar Munai Service, Karazhanbas oilfield.
