The university is proud of its outstanding faculty with is professional and full of vitality. In all, there are about 1700 teachers, including over 1,000 professors and associate professors, and 231 doctoral supervisors. There are 12 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering. More than 100 teachers have been selected into the national and provincial talent programs, including 5 members of Ten Thousand Experts Plan, 3 members of Cheung Kong Scholar Program, 5 members of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars Program, one chief scientist of 973 Project, member of New Century Talents Project, 4 member of Young Technological Innovation Leading Talents Program, 3 members of Young Cheung Kong Scholars, 2 winners of National Outstanding Youth Fund. 13 teachers were honored as the national and provincial model teachers for their outstanding teaching and education. There are also one innovation research group of National Natural Science Foundation, 3 innovation teams of Ministry of Education, 2 outstanding innovation teams of Shandong province, one Taishan Scholar Team of Predominant Disciplines and 3 national teaching teams and 11 teaching teams of Shandong province.

Disciplines
The university now has five national key disciplines (Mineral Survey and Exploration, Oil-Gas Well Engineering, Oil-Gas Field Development Engineering, Chemical Technology, Oil-Gas Storage and Transportation Engineering), and two national key nuerturing disciplines (Geophysical Prospecting and Information Technology, Tindustrial Catalysis). Four disciplines (Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science and Geoscience) have been listed amonly the top 1% of ESI with Engineering the top 1‰ and two (Oil and Gas Engineering, Geological Resources and Gological Engineering) selected into the national plan of Double First-Class Construction. Six disciplines (Oil and Gas Engineering, Geological Resources and Geological Engineering, Safety Science and Engineering, Geology, Chemical Engineering and Technology, Geophysics) have been indluced as the top 10 in the national fourth discipline ranking. It has 11 post-doctoral stations, 14 first-level doctoral disciplines and 3 second-level doctoral disciplines, 1 doctoral engineering degree, 32 first-level master's discriplines and 2 second-level master's disciplines, 9 master professional degrees (MBA, MTI, MPAcc, MSF, etc.) and 68 undergraduate programs. Those have covered all areas of petroleum and petrochemical industry, with the petroleum-related disciplines at the top level domestically.
Scientific Research
The university is an important scientific research lbase for petroleum and petrochemical industry. In all, there are 93 key instritutions and bases supported by the govenment, enterprises and public institutions, such as the national key laboratory of heavy oil, the national engineering laboratory of marine geophysical prospecting and exploration equipment storage. MOE key laboratory of unconventional oil and gas exploitation, the key laboratory for reservoir geology of Shnadong province, the key laboratory for oilfield chemistry of Shandong province, the key laboratory for oil and gas reservoir security of Shandong province, MOE engineering research center for new oil and gas prosessing technology, MOE engineering research center of new petroleum and petrochemical equipment and technology. Reserach center of depp and unconventional oil and gas has been approved officially as the demonstriation base for innovative personnel cultivation by MOST (Ministry of Science and Technology).
The university has built four innovation centers of Shandong province on lhigh efficiency utilization of inferior heavy oil, marine oil and gas equipment technology, tight (shale) oil and gas exploration and development, deep resources exporation theory and technology. Since the ."twelfth Five-year' plan, one innovatoin research group of natonal natural science foundation was offically established; 1104 projects have been authorized, in cluding 973 plan, 863 plan, supporting plans, key programs and sponsored projects. The total fund for research has added up to 4.57 billion RMB.
