My name is Ismail Ahmed Qasem Albouzedy and I’m from Libya and Philippine, I have been in China since 2009 because of my father’s work. And it is from that time when I began to learn the Chinese culture, somehow in a point of view are kind of similar to what we have, so there is no big difficulty for me to live and communicate with others here in China. The foundation of Chinese language was laid down at that time too, because I was very interested in all kinds of languages and also the ancient one like Classical Chinese. It takes long time for me to understand a full sentence. It is not easy but I enjoyed it and also it makes me have a deeper and solid understanding of Chinese language.
In 2017, I came to China University of petroleum to study petroleum engineering, my Chinese language was better than most of the students, so I naturally helped many foreign, from bank translation to hospital translation, to Taobao problem, and translation for the police station and so on.
After that, I took part in the international students' union. Our aim is to help the international students to adapt to China's life, listen to their difficulties , let them experience different Chinese culture, participate in, assist, plan and hold various activities to promote the culture exchange between China and foreign countries, events like, cultural festivals, art exhibitions and photography contest, there were also Language corners that can improve Chinese and foreign students language skills and also have a better understanding in different culture. There are also speech contests, debate and sports week that can sharpen the skills and abilities of our students.
Later, I became a member of the Communication Department in SPE (student branch). The scale of the activities which is organized was like something I never seen before, I participated in the work of the 4thPetro-Gathering: China International Student Petroleum Forum. During this period, I took parts in various school activities, which are related to Chinese traditional culture and cultural exchange between China and foreign countries, and also won some awards like First prize of the Chinese dictation competition, Second prize of Chinese speech competition and scholarship like WangTao Outstanding scholarship, the scholarship of excellent student workers and the scholarship of Qingdao government
Those year I spend here, really enrich my life. I met a lot of good people and become friends with them. We change different ideas, see things more diversely, although there will something we will never agree, but we all respect each another. We see things differently, but you will really appreciate when you experience it by yourself. My suggestion to my fellow schoolmates is to experience things you have never done it and meet and communication with as much as possible, don't let the time slip by.
