The National University Young Teachers Geology Course Teaching Competition is the largest scale and highest level of teaching competition in geological disciplines in China, which aims at cultivating young teachers love and dedication to teaching, rigorous teaching attitude, and strive to create a high moral, professional, energetic teachers, to promote the scientific development of higher education in geological field. The competition is held every two years.

With the title "the type of formation and characteristics of natural gas", Mr. Liu Changjiang illustrated the student-centered, problem-oriented pedagogy in20minutes through class introduction, pre-section review, difficulty explanation and seciton summary. The teaching process shows the presentation and solution of practical filed problems, the cultivation of scientic spirit, the use of modern information technology, and the display of the latest scientific research results. The judges' panel highly appraize the teaching of Associate professor Liu Changjiang and awarded him the first prize.
