On July 6, Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) announced 2020 award recipients. Professor Yao Jun was awarded International Honorary Membership, and automatically elected as SPE Distinguished Member.
SPE is the largest individual member organization serving managers, engineers, scientists and other professionals worldwide in the oil and gas industry.
SPE awards recognize members who have contributed exceptional service and leadership to the society and the community, as well as those who made major professional contributions to their technical disciplines. SPE international awards are global in scope, recognizing members who have made industry wide achievements or provided significant local impact. International awards are presented during ATCE.
Professor Yao Jun is the director of Research Center of Multiphase flow in Porous Media of UPC, who is also the member of academic committee of InterPore China Chapter. He has been engaged in research and teaching in multiphase flow in porous medium, presented theoretical framework for modern seepage mechanics, and formed simulation methodology and multi-scale coupling upgrading method, including molecular scale, microscale, core scale, macro Darcy scale, and fracture-vug scale. He innovated simulation technology for unconventional petroleum reservoir and fracture-vug carbonate reservoir, smart optimization for petroleum production based on machine learning and big data, which promote the theoretical advance and engineering application for fluid flow in porous media.
