This is Shakyet Hossan from Bangladesh., 2019 batch undergraduate student majoring in electrical engineering and automation at China University of Petroleum (East China). The current assistant counselor of the collage of International Education. Living in a foreign country, I still don't forget to pursue excellence and develop in an all-round way. In September 2019, after successful completion of the foundation study in Northeast Normal University, I came to China University of Petroleum (East China) to do my bachelor degree.

1. Come to China to study to realize my dream

I have been longing for China since I was a child, and want to understand China's long history and profound cultural heritage. In 2018, I got the opportunity to study in China and Australia at the same time. I did not hesitate to choose China, the country I yearn for, and decided to do my part to contribute to the friendly exchanges between China and Bangladesh.

After coming to China, I bravely faced learning difficulties, communicated closely with classmates and teachers in my major, and often participated in group self-study, so that I passed all the subjects in the two academic years. Among them, nearly 20% reach the excellent level, 70% reach the good level, and stood first among international students in this major, which is not inferior even when compared with Chinese students. I not only have a solid theoretical foundation, but also have tremendous practical ability. I served as the leader of the research group during the design of the power electronics course. I successfully designed a switching circuit device with practical functions and completed the defense. In my daily life, I am strict with myself and be lenient to others, insist on taking part in physical exercises, and make friends widely, and created a place of honor among international students.

2. Contribute youth power and practice the spirit of voluntary service

During the two years in this university, I actively participated in public service activities and practiced my beliefs ofserving classmates and the Chinese society. I serve as the president of the international student volunteer team and actively carry out various international student volunteer services. I organized and carried out voluntary services for the 2020 annual Sports Week, organized international student representatives to attend the 23rd Student Union Conference, and carried out regional publicity activities on traditional Chinese folk customs and that was reported by Qingdao TV Station. In addition, I also serve as the manager of the international student dormitory building, maintaining the safety and health of the building, and solving problems in the life of the students on campus. During the epidemic, I was unafraid of the epidemic and took the courage to take responsibility. Helped day and night on duty teacher checked the health of the students. In 2021, served as the school's enrollment publicity ambassador, assist the admissions office, help the school publicize enrollment online, receive new students, and successfully complete the orientation work for the new student new semester.

3. Share Chinese story & build bridge of friendship between China & Bangladesh

I know China, Like China, and Love China. In 2020, when the epidemic was worst situation, I was interviewed by the Bangladesh national TV channel RTV. Through the television, I told the Bangladesh people what I saw and heard in China. When most countries in the world don’t know much about China’s customs, and when the world is full of misunderstandings about the outbreak of the new coronavirus in China, I feel that I have a responsibility to speak clearly about China through the media. Fact, I used the caring measures and facts of the Chinese government and schools to effectively refute Internet rumors and maintain China's international image. Through social media, I shared my daily life at school and showed the truest side of international students in China to the world. As an international student, the study and life in China not only allowed me to establish my ideals and pursuits, but also taught me "the grace of knowledge should be repaid by the spring." I clearly recognize that China, as a rising power, has huge development potential and international influence. Next, I will continue to study further in China, and use my knowledge to contribute to the development of China & Bangladesh. At the same time, I will continue to share the story of China, spread what I have seen and heard in China to the world, and let the people of the world know the most authentic and beautiful China.
