To facilitate the orderly implementation of daily management in the autumn semester and help new international student newcomers adapt to campus life as quickly as possible, the College of International Education organized three orientation meetings for the new graduate, undergraduate, and language students of the 2023 autumn semester on September 26th-27th. The meetings were held in Room 223 of Block A in the International Students Dormitory Building and Room 223 in the South Classrooms Hall. Deputy Dean Zhang Zhiying of CIE, Zhang Xing from the Graduate School, and relevant staff from various departments within CIE attended the meetings.
During the meetings, Deputy Dean Zhang Zhiying extended a warm welcome to all the new students, providing an overview of the overall university situation and expressing warm wishes to the new international student newcomers. Subsequently, Zhang Xing from the Graduate School (attending the meeting for graduate students) and representatives from different departments of CIE, such as Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, and Visa Services, delivered presentations on relevant information and addressed students' questions. The meetings were informative, with concise and effective information delivery, fostering enthusiastic and friendly interaction between the faculty and the students.
The orientation meetings provided students with an overall understanding of the university's operations and the work of CIE, allowing them to make preliminary plans for their studies and gain specific knowledge about scholarships, visa applications, and campus life. The meetings also facilitated better cross-cultural adaptation for international student newcomers, instilling confidence and anticipation for their future studies and lives.
