On June 16, 2020, the 19th "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Language Competition for global college students and the 13th "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Language Competition for global middle school students, sponsored by the Chinese Embassy in Tajikistan and undertaken by the UPC-GMIT Confucius Institute in Tajikistan, came to a successful conclusion. Affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, competitions had been held online, in the form of cloud competition to provide young students in Tajikistan with a new platform to promote Chinese learning and cultural exchange.
This competition invited Wang Guiqing, executive director of the "Chinese Bridge" Global Foreigners Chinese Dubbing competition of CCTV, Meng Jie, general coordinator of the Global Foreigners Chinese competition, Tian Peng, a young Chinese musician and songwriter, and Yang Rui, director of the Sino-foreign Cultural Exchange Center of Qingdao Experimental High School Education, as judges.
Domestic experts invited in the final competition of "Chinese Bridge" Tajikistan Division
From May 20 to June 16, "Chinese bridge" began to collect videos from all-over Tajikistan. Qualifier are selected in both north and south regions. Through preliminary and intermediary contests, 26 students from 9 universities, and 18 middle-school students from 15 schools from the cities of Dushanbe, Hu Zhande, Penjikent, Kulyab, Tangara, were qualified for the final competition.
Liu Bin, Chinese ambassador to Tajikistan, attended two finals. He said that due to the impact of the epidemic, the "Chinese Bridge" competition of this year was different, and this type of "Cloud Chinese Bridge" was of unique style. The performance of the contestants was very wonderful. They have become “messengers and bridges” to promote the cultural exchanges between China and Tajikistan. Tajikistan is one of the neighboring countries which initiate Chinese language teaching. Nowadays two countries implement frequent cultural exchange and profound cooperation in various fields. He hoped to see more young people learn Chinese language, to promote the friendship between these two countries.

The "Chinese Bridge" competition has become an important cultural and educational exchange activity between China and Tajikistan, said Nurulozoda Fejuza, deputy mayor of Hu zhande City of culture, education and health. GMIT Confucius Institute is the first Confucius institute cooperated by China University of Petroleum (east China). UPC-GMIT Confucius Institute positively response to " the Belt and Road Initiative”, practice the spirit of the "Silk Road", which has become the important window of language and cultural exchanges between the two countries through five years of construction.
