Confucius Institute Successfully Held "International Chinese Day" Activities

On April 18-19, 2022, to celebrate the 13th United Nations International Chinese Language Day, the Confucius Institute at Mining and Metallurgy Institute of Tajikistan (MMIT) held in response to the initiative of Sino-Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center and Chinese Language Alliance, organized the "Brilliant Chinese Charm Chinese" Chinese Cultural exhibition under the theme of "Chinese Language: Together for a Bright Future".

The Confucius Institute has prepared a variety of cultural experience activities, including cultural lectures on the origin and development of Chinese characters, Exhibition of excellent students' works ,exhibition of Chinese painting and calligraphy works, Chinese tea art, Chinese chess, paper cutting and Chinese folk sports activities, to bring local people to feel the charm of Chinese and understand Chinese culture.

More than 280 people attended the event, including Sattorov Khurshed, Deputy Mayor of Buston city, Muhammadali Bakhtiyor, President of MMIT, Nasriddinov Zamoniddin, Vice President of MMIT, students of Confucius Institute and local people.

In the lecture on the origin and development of Chinese characters, Li Jianxiong , the teacher from Lanzhou Resources and Environment Voc-Tech University were invited to explain the origin and development of Chinese characters to Confucius Institute students through an online forum. The students spoke enthusiastically in class and were greatly interested in the characteristics of "meaning beauty, sound beauty and shape beauty" of Chinese characters. Then they made a presentation in groups.

Confucius Institute teacher Shi Guangyue introduced the origin of Chinese Day to participants, and took this opportunity to introduce The Chinese Yin-yang culture and the traditional 24 solar terms. In the Chinese chess exhibition area, Mr. Be Wei created his own battlefield and demonstrated "ancient battlefield", attracting a large audience with "chariots, horses, soldiers and guns".

Ms. Yang Dexia introduced the characteristics and creative ideas of Chinese calligraphy and painting. Confucius Institute students Dina and Orchid also prepared a Chinese tea ceremony and a Chinese paper cutting performance.

In the outdoor folk sports area, students kicked shuttlecock and cricket, and some tried to play kongzhu and fly kites. The small square was full of laughter, filled with the enthusiasm and warmth of spring.

Then, each area is responsible for the teachers led participants to experience different projects, the feelings of the evolution of Chinese characters in the calligraphy creation and the fragrance of the ink, watching the fragrance taste the tea in the tea art performance, feel the peace of refined taste, the founder of the chessboard deduce the history of the art of unfathomable and disputes, and exquisite hand with scissors and knives, Made out of a set of delicate zodiac pictures, vivid as if leapt on paper.

The diverse cultural experience programs and exquisite paintings, calligraphy and paper cuttings have enabled local people to experience the charm of traditional Chinese culture and the joy of learning The Chinese language.

Students from the Confucius Institute sang "The Book of Songs -- Jian Jia" for guests, recited "Spring Hope", "Wandering Son Sings" and other ancient Chinese classic poems. They also explained "Grain Rain" in the 24 solar terms and related legends to guests. The wonderful performance of the students won unanimous praise from the guests present.

After viewing the exhibition, the first vice President of MMIT expressed his sincere congratulations on the successful conclusion of the International Chinese Day. He said that Chinese is one of the oldest languages in the world and one of the international languages today. Today in Tajikistan, students are more interested in learning Chinese than ever before, and we expect students to study Chinese seriously and diligently, and plan for their future careers. The School of Metallurgy has also considered the inclusion of Chinese in the school's foreign language teaching program and initiated a training program to cultivate international tajik scientific and educational talents.

Chinese is an important member of the world language family. It also provides infinite possibilities for Chinese learners and enthusiasts to expand their career paths, understand Chinese culture, and broaden their international horizons.

In the spring of April, Confucius Institute at MMIT will keep its original aspiration and continue to make efforts to promote the development of International Chinese culture and education, enhance the excellent cultural exchanges between China and Tajikistan, and contribute to the everlasting friendship between China and Tajikistan.
