Study Visa

International students should apply for the X1 (long-term) visa or X2 (short-term) visa to enter China. Police registration, also known as temporary accommodation registration, is required within 24 hours after arrival in China.

X1 visa

X1 visa is valid for 30 days from the date of entry (date on the entry stamp), and the residence permit must be applied for at the local police station within 30 days.

Please note that “Expiry Date 03MAY2019” (example), here is the expiry date of X1 visa outside China. It is generally valid for three months from the date of issue.

The validity period of X2 visa is calculated from the date of entry plus the number of days that the passport holder is allowed to stay (indicated in the visa) after entering China. For example, as shown in the entry stamp of the X2 visa below, this visa will be valid till September 5, 2017 by 2017-07-22 (arrival date) plus 45 days.
